Preserved Movement

“PETRIFIED” is a fashion collection exploring the relationship between the body, transformation, and permanence through sculptural fashion and material experimentation. Inspired by mythology and the emotional symbolism of protection and vulnerability, the collection examines the tension between softness and rigidity, transparency and structure. The submission, titled “Preserved Movement,” focuses on the transformation of delicate natural materials through sculptural treatment techniques. Constructed primarily from silk textiles, the garment explores the dialogue between fluidity and permanence through the selective application of transparent resin. The dress captures a moment suspended between movement and stillness. The silk maintains its natural softness, lightness, and movement, while resin-treated sections create rigid, almost frozen structures across the body. This interaction between softness and structure reflects the emotional tension between vulnerability and preservation. Rather than overpowering the natural textile, the resin treatment was applied selectively to preserve the silk's tactile beauty, transparency, and fluid movement while reinforcing sculptural areas of the silhouette. The result is a garment that feels simultaneously organic and architectural. The project challenges disposability by focusing on emotional durability, craftsmanship, and material longevity. Instead of creating temporary fashion, the work approaches garments as collectible objects intended to maintain both physical and emotional presence over time. Combining traditional draping techniques with experimental material development, the project presents a vision of contemporary luxury rooted in individuality, tactility, and lasting emotional connection.
