The Iceland University of the Arts
I recently graduated from Fashion Design at Iceland University of the Arts. These are 100 words describing my BA collection: vestige /ˈvɛstɪdʒ/ noun 1. a trace or remnant of something that is disappearing or no longer exists. Everything is fleeting and some things are meant to fade and eventually vanish. Other things are meant to be honored, preserved and nurtured. Not because of its monetary value, but because of its beauty and emotional merit. I am vitalizing remains from the past by emphasizing it’s intricacy, focusing on craftsmanship beyond the physical objects. Highlighting the acquired knowledge, the slow process and the emotional value. To achieve this, time is fundamental. A vestige is like a thread from the past, delicately woven into the present, creating the foundation for what is. Continuously, it will wind itself into the future, ensuring connections to heritage, identity and memories.
