My project titled "The Glitch" explores the emotional and material durability of garments, guided by the belief that clothing carries memory and traces of time, touch, and presence. Building on my research into wardrobe studies, where I examined how attachment and habit inform longevity, I developed a look that honors the history of existing garments while creating new aesthetic narratives. Using techniques such as manual knitting and needle felting on secondhand materials made of natural fibers, I embrace imperfection and visible mending to celebrate aging and transformation. My work blurs the boundary between the real and unreal, drawing inspiration from pixelated 3D scans that capture garments as temporal artifacts. Through handcraft and experimental manipulation, I reinterpret discarded materials into pieces that evoke the passage of time, weaving past and present into a continuous thread. This approach not only diverts waste but also proposes a deeply human-centered alternative to the fast fashion cycle; one centered on value, memory, and care, while disrupting traditional notions of garment perfection.
