Hello, my name is Ido Karni, I am 27 years old from Israel, originally from a remote peripheral city called Eilat, and I currently live in Tel Aviv. I am a fashion design student at Shenkar University. The apparel I designed and sewed was created as part of the denim course in my second year at Shenkar.

après ski , crystalized denim

Competitions: Fashion Competition 2025

My project is titled Après Ski, inspired by the lively nightlife and festive atmosphere that follows a day on the slopes. Every year, I travel with my family or friends for a ski holiday, and this project is a tribute to my deep love for snowboarding and the culture surrounding it. For this design, I worked with raw denim, applying a distressing process and washes. I then placed the denim in a large container filled with borax powder, which caused crystalization procces- crystals to grow naturally on the fabric, creating a frosty, icy texture. later I hardened the denim to give it the appearance of being frozen in time, as if the wearer is caught in motion gliding off the slopes straight into an après ski party. I preserved the classic structure of a denim jacket, keeping its original elements to maintain its iconic detailes, while transforming it into a dramatic, sculptural piece that captures the spirit of skiing, frozen, and the celebration after the ski.
