Wicker armchair on a metal construction

Category: Furniture

Competitions: Home Competition 2025

The “Utero” armchair is the result of intensive research and design work conducted at the Ecological Strategy Design Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw under the supervision of prof. dr hab. Grzegorz Niwiński. The creative process included the analysis of anthropometric atlases and the creation of a series of prototypes, which allowed for precise refinement of the seat’s ergonomics. The armchair was hand-woven by the designer with wicker on a solid metal structure, guaranteeing stability and durability. The wicker weaves have been protected against external factors, thanks to which “Utero” will prove useful both indoors and outdoors. The metal frame is powder-coated, which ensures its highest durability. The modular design – the seat placed on the legs – is a practical solution that facilitates assembly and transport. The whole is complemented by an attached dedicated cushion, which increases the comfort of use. The “Utero” armchair won recognition during the exhibition at the Hermitage in the Royal Łazienki and at the Fair of Beautiful Things.
