My graduate Collection 'The Context of Joy' explores the concept of Scottish micro-seasons, periods of time that lie out-with our traditional seasons. These are interpreted through individual elements: the budding of chanterelles on a forest floor, midsummer light through green trees and crisp white snow in the sunshine. Scotland’s landscapes have been a consistent source of joy in my life, and I aim to evoke this within my practice. With the natural world at the centre of my work, I strive for a sustainably conscious practise by constructing with natural, reused, and deadstock materials. Our natural world is in continuous motion, something that emanates through my collection in voluminous, playful silhouettes that move and interact with the wearer’s environment.
