“what is my Local ?”

Category: Apparel

Competitions: Fashion Competition 2026

The collection is titled “What is my local?” It questions and responds to fashion's current discourse—that "the future of fashion is in going local"—while confronting a drastic change I witnessed in my own local culture, which is fading at an alarming rate under the guise of "growth" and capitalization. Responsible materials are always at the center of my practice. For this collection, I have created textiles in collaboration with local craft artisans in India, bio-leather researchers in Germany, and biomaterials developed alongside student researchers. My work rethinks sustainability through a 360-degree approach which includes material, making and the end of the cycle, pairing local traditions with future science to show how heritage and innovation must coexist for the "future of fashion" to be truly local.
