Bioform

Category: Apparel

Competitions: Fashion Competition 2026

Bioform is a collection that explores the phenomenon of biophilia—the innate human tendency to seek comfort and connection in nature. In an increasingly urbanized world, where our relationship with the natural environment is often fragmented, Bioform serves as a reminder of the emotional refuge and familiarity found in organic forms. The collection is deeply rooted in personal memory, drawing inspiration from the coastlines of Oman, my childhood home. Countless weekend mornings searching for seashells along the shore became moments of curiosity, wonder, and belonging. Each shell, weathered by the tides and shaped through time, carried its own unique language of ridges, curves, and textures. These collected fragments of the sea became lasting tactile memories—objects that continue to evoke a profound sense of home and comfort. These memories are translated into garments through sculptural fabric manipulation that echoes the layered surfaces and subtle imperfections of seashells. Central to the collection is the use of muslin—an often overlooked and humble material—reimagined as the foundation of couture-inspired silhouettes. By transforming surplus muslin through texture, structure, and form, the collection demonstrates how discarded, everyday materials can be elevated into garments of craftsmanship and value, reinforcing a commitment to sustainable design. At its core, Bioform is an exploration of memory, materiality, and our instinctive bond with nature. It celebrates the ability of both natural forms and overlooked materials to preserve stories, evoke emotion, and inspire a more thoughtful approach to design.
