Alex Brownless

Alex Brownless is the CEO and Co-Founder of Arts Thread and the Global Design Graduate Show. From working with Gucci to collaborating with Google Arts & Culture, Alex has been at the very forefront of supporting emerging creative talent whilst helping to establish Arts Thread as the world’s leading digital platform for emerging designers and artists and a launch pad for their careers.

Over the last decade, Arts Thread has helped thousands of new creatives launch their own brands and gain employment worldwide. It has partnered with many brands such as Levi’s, Design Pavilion-Times Square, Avery Dennison, BBC Worldwide, Made.com, Nike, Nasdaq, United Nations, WGSN, Urban Outfitters, Milan Design Week, Premiere Vision, London Design Festival, Magis, Azimut Yachts, amongst others to help launch the next generation of creative talent globally.

Alex graduated in Fashion/Textiles in the early 1990’s and has a rather diverse career, designing for companies including Banana Republic, Gap and M&S. He created the successful fashion rave label NASA, oversaw global partnerships and business development for WGSN, consulted for fashion manufacturers in Italy, China, India, Turkey and Puerto Rico supplying many retailers and brands worldwide. He also headed up the international fashion division at U.S. based creative recruitment consultancy Aquent.

Over the past two years he has provided consulting support for Premiere Vision (Paris) and Lineapelle (Milan). Prior to this he worked with Ascential – the owners of WGSN, Cannes Lions and Coloro.
