Oslo National Academy of the Arts (Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo or KHiO) is Norway’s largest public institution for higher education in art and design, offering bachelor’s, master’s and PhD programmes in visual arts, design, media and performing arts. Located in Oslo, it was formed in 1996 through the merger of Norway’s leading art schools and traces its design education roots back to 1818. The academy emphasises studio-based learning, experimentation and critical practice, supported by well-equipped workshops and interdisciplinary projects. Its Design Department offers training in fashion, interior and furniture design alongside graphic and illustration disciplines, preparing creative practitioners for professional, cultural and research work in contemporary design fields.
