The Iceland University of the Arts (Listaháskóli Íslands) is Iceland’s primary institution for higher education in the arts, offering bachelor’s and master’s degrees across creative fields such as art, design, theatre and music. Established in 1998, it is a compact, internationally engaged university located in Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland. The institution emphasises artistic research, critical thinking and interdisciplinary practice, combining studio-based learning with creative experimentation. Its Department of Design and Architecture provides programmes that foster independence, collaboration and professional readiness in design disciplines. The university attracts a diverse student body and links closely with Iceland’s cultural and creative sectors.
