SWIVEL

National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, India

Sriya Reddy, a process-driven furniture designer based in Ahmedabad, India, brings an interdisciplinary approach shaped by studies at the National Institute of Design and the Rhode Island School of Design. Her practice embraces experimentation, long-term thinking and an interest in how objects evolve through use, interaction and care.

Her project Swivel captures the quiet essence of everyday encounters, using water as a metaphor for memory. The tabletop is conceived as a fl uid surface, responding like ripples to touch and preserving traces of interaction over time. Crafted from natural cherry wood, the piece reflects both material honesty and a philosophical appreciation of fl ow – time moving endlessly, stilled in form.

With Swivel, Reddy reimagines furniture as a vessel for connection and memory, earning its place slowly through presence and use.
